Mt Meru — 4 days
Meru over four days — the standard acclimatisation climb before Kilimanjaro, and a fine mountain in its own right.
The longest itinerary we run — maximum acclimatisation, the full northern circuit, and no rushing anywhere.
Drive to Lemosho Gate (about 2,100 m) and walk through rainforest to Mti Mkubwa camp (about 2,750 m).
Climb onto the Shira Plateau, camping at Shira 1 (about 3,500 m).
Cross the plateau to Shira 2 Camp (about 3,850 m).
Walk to Moir Hut (about 4,200 m) on the quieter northern side.
Continue round the northern circuit to Buffalo Camp (about 4,000 m).
Walk beneath Kibo's northern face to Third Cave (about 3,870 m).
Cross to School Hut (about 4,750 m) and rest before the summit.
Start around midnight for Uhuru Peak (5,895 m), then descend to Millennium Camp.
Walk down through the forest to Mweka Gate.
You need to be in good health and used to walking for several hours on consecutive days. Longer itineraries give your body more time to adjust to altitude and raise your chances of reaching the summit.
Please confirm in your quote what is included, such as park fees, guides, porters, meals and transfers. Prices are in US dollars per person for parties for parties of 2 to 6.
