Marangu Route — 5 days
The "Coca-Cola" route — the only trail with hut accommodation the whole way, and the shortest way to Uhuru Peak.
Six routes to the roof of Africa, from the five-day Marangu huts to nine unhurried days on Lemosho. All rates are per person for parties of 2–6.
The single biggest factor in reaching the summit is time spent acclimatising, not fitness — a seven-day itinerary succeeds far more often than the same route in five. Marangu is the only route with huts; everything else is camping. Umbwe is steep and best left to experienced trekkers. If you have the days, Lemosho gives you both the best scenery and the best odds.
The "Coca-Cola" route — the only trail with hut accommodation the whole way, and the shortest way to Uhuru Peak.
Marangu with an extra acclimatisation day at Horombo. Materially better summit odds for one more night on the mountain.
The only approach from the north, on the drier Kenyan side. The quietest of the main routes.
Rongai with an added acclimatisation day — gentler gradient, better odds, still almost no other groups.
The steepest and most direct line up the mountain. Spectacular, and strictly for experienced trekkers.
Umbwe with an extra night to acclimatise, which this route badly needs given how fast it gains height.
The "Whiskey" route and the most popular on the mountain — climb-high, sleep-low profile and the Barranco Wall.
Machame over seven days. The extra night is the single biggest thing you can do for your summit chances.
A remote western approach that crosses the Shira Plateau before joining the southern circuit. The best scenery on the mountain.
Lemosho at a proper pace, with two acclimatisation days. If you want the highest chance of standing on Uhuru, this is it.
The longest itinerary we run — maximum acclimatisation, the full northern circuit, and no rushing anywhere.
Tanzania's second peak, walked through Arusha National Park with an armed ranger. Giraffe and buffalo on the lower slopes.
Meru over four days — the standard acclimatisation climb before Kilimanjaro, and a fine mountain in its own right.
